How do you turn off the Ps3 system, without a Controller?

My controller no longer works. When I start my ps3 and play a Movie, there is no way to either play the movie or shut the ps3 down is there? If not, which then is the safest option to shutting the ps3 down? (Through holding the power button down, flicking the switch in the back, or ejecting the disk?).

Thank you,How do you turn off the Ps3 system, without a Controller?
There are two other ways to turn the console off.

The first way is to simply hold down power ';button'; on the front. The other way to turn your PS3 off is the main power switch on the back, which completely cuts the power from the PS3, which is also a good idea to do AFTER you turn it off from the front. This conserves power and makes you PS3 last longer. Ejecting the disc is not necessary.

As for your controller, have you taken it to someone else's house to play? If so you will need to connect your usb cable to your controller and to the console for it to resynchronize with your system. Also, make sure your controller is charged, let it sit on the charger for 1-2 hours to make sure it has a good charge and always plug it in when its not in use. Hope this helpsHow do you turn off the Ps3 system, without a Controller?
Oh, sorry about that it seemed as if you were wondering How to shut down seeing as that is the question in bold. But unless you have the PS3 set to automatically play the disc, then you will need a controller.

Eject the disk to get it to stop running something.

Then hold the power button and let it blink until it turns off.

Then flip the back switch. Always do this because research has shown a PS3 left on for one year is the same as running 3 vending machines for 1 year.
You can press the power button in the front or there is an on and off switch in the back.
You push the power button - not really difficult.
it might be just disconnected. try to plug it in with the USB cable and let the PS3 recognize it again.
